This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Intel.
One of the questions I get asked the most on Dramabeans is how I manage to watch and recap so many dramas all the time, in addition to keeping the blog running on a daily basis. My response is in the FAQ page, but I suspect people want a more serious answer. So I’ll just say: It’s not easy. Girlfriday and I both probably spend a lot more time on the site than could be considered healthy (it’s all for you!), and on a few occasions I’ve made the conscious effort to scale back in order to balance out my life — but ultimately, I always come crawling back like a junkie in need of her next kdrama fix. Which isn’t even so much a metaphor as it is an accurate description of life. What can ya do? We’re both workaholics, perfectionists, and completists. That means I spend a LOT of quality time with my computer.
So if we can’t cut down on the volume of work that we take on, the only other option is to do what we do faster and more efficiently. Time management is the key. That key may occasionally get lost in the cosmos somewhere, perhaps in the fourth dimension along with Jang Geun-seok’s fashion sense, but I think I’m starting to figure out some of its secrets.
Since I spend so much time blogging and most of my work is heavily computer- and internet-dependent, I’ve gone through a few computers since beginning Dramabeans, usually when the old one has finally worn itself through and drops dead. Granted, I use the heck out of my machines: watching dramas, downloading files, recapping episodes, formatting posts, editing photos, uploading files, editing reviews and recaps, scouring sites for news. Usually all at once. Often while listening to music and surfing the internet. Which means that at any given moment I’ve got more than a dozen windows open and that many programs running at once.
All this is to say: You can understand how I saw the appeal in being approached to review a computer that was being promoted under the theme of “Get More Done in Less Time.” Oh, yeah? I’ll take that challenge. Bring it on, computer.

The first thing I’d do with a nifty new laptop is dedicate it to storing and watching Kdramas! Considering that I often connect my current laptop to my TV in order to watch dramas, a wireless connection would be most awesome! Of course, being able to stalk the dramabeans site using my TV as a monitor would also be cool ;)
To be completely honest, I think the first thing I would do with the new laptop is to fill my Kdrama fix and watch MSOAN or Secret Garden!! LOL

Gosh, with a great new Intel laptop, I will bring it everywhere with me to efficiently and effectively help non-profits!! I’m a fundraiser so I definitely need a super, portable machine for me to do all I can to support non-profits in this economy, especially the small ones! Follow-up emails, corporate sponsorship asks, construct powerpoint presentations for big donors, you name it! I would be reading your Dramabeans recaps on my big screen TV :D Then I would watch Secret Garden on Dramafever. I would use the wi-fi so I could watch it on my TV. Meanwhile throughout this whole process I would be doing the Happy Dance and thanking Javabeans. :D
With a new laptop at hand, I will be able to get rid of my old one which has been troubling me and i don’t have the expenses to repair it. I’m a World Music DJ at our college radio station: which means I cover K-pop, J-Pop, C-Pop, Indian music (not much though) and many others. With the new laptop, I’ll get a new system, new i-tunes to have a better playlist that won’t get deleted and also have Veoh+Vikkii player so that I can watch dramas when I want to. I’ll also be able to work on my college papers which I can’t properly right now and have to end up spending time at the library/computer lab in order to get the work done. Also, I’d be able to comment on Dramabeans’ awesome reviews too when I have time :)
The first thing I would do with my new lap top is…
stream all 5 episodes of Mary Stay Out All Night and all 4 episodes of Secret Garden. Then read the recaps of them on Dramabeans!
Watch Secret Garden and then MMM. Screencap all the hot scenes. Wipe excessive drool off keyboard.
If i were to win the new laptop, i would probably give it to my parents because they’ve spent a lot of money on me (esp. on the electric bill! teehee drama addict to the MAX). They never ask for anything in return and this would be a nice surprise gift to them.

The first thing I’d do is connect it to my HDTV and watch my kdramas for once while sitting on a comfy couch! The freedom to relax in comfort and watching them in “porelicious” detail instead of sitting at my desk with a desktop/tower computer and a chair…well, that’s a dream of mine!

I discovered the awesomeness that is connecting my laptop up to our HDTV a few weeks ago, and I’ve often bemoaned the fact that it meant I couldn’t surf the internet and watch my dramas at the same time — the cord I use isn’t very long and it’s uncomfortable to sit that close to a huge screen, which means that I end up abandoning my laptop for the duration of whatever it is I’m watching. I miss out on a lot of tweets that way. :( A wireless connection would be amazing, and it would probably ensure that I become even more attached to our HDTV that I am right now.
Also, I’m (hopefully!) going to Korea in March, so it’d be nice to have a new laptop. My current one’s a couple of years old now, and the hard drive’s already failed once, so I’m a bit paranoid about it crapping out on me permanently while I’m in a foreign country. My Korean’s not really good enough to talk computers haha. ^^
First thing I would do is sprawl out on my bed and watch my dramas and Hulu. Right now all I have is my desktop and watching all my shows sitting up is so tiresome. A laptop would be a godsend right now.

I’d start a blog. I’ve always meant to start one, but lacked sufficient motivation/confidence, even though writing is my passion. Rather than actually do something about it, I’ve just lurked at Javabeans for over a year, wishing I could be like her and GF. :-)

I’d actually give it to my little brother for christmas so he could do his schoolwork. (Wouldn’t that make me the best big sister of all time?)
I don’t need a new laptop, but I know a new college student who does. He is a very hard working young man, but comes from a poor family. He was blessed to receive many scholarships, but still lacks the basics for a successful college life. While he wants to be a lawyer, he is very interested in music. He is apart of a singing group with his sisters and would be able to use the laptop to record and modify their sound. Maybe even generate music videos. He also helps his father in a lawn care business. Currently, they keep track of clients and payments the old fashioned way (notepad and pen), but a new laptop will allow him to create spreadsheets, flyers, and maybe a webpage (one day). Along with not having a laptop this young man also does not have a lot of time. Most 17 year olds are going to movies, hanging out with friends, or goofing off. This young man spends his time studying, working, singing with his sisters, going to church, or helping out around the house. A new laptop will be just the toy he needs to network with friends, watch movies, listen to music, or just be a normal 17 year old.

I am in design faculty. As a result, I spend partly all my time working with design software (creative, suite, autocad, google sketch-up, etc). However I an stuck with my old lop-top that I bought 1st year of school. I would like to have more powerful loptop, but can’t afford it. If I win this loptop, I will definitely do better and more creative design projects!
I would like to give this laptop to my dad for Christmas. He’s retired and has nothing to do at home, so I’d like to give him a laptop to keep himself preoccupied with :D

The first thing I’d do with a new laptop is customize it. Change the wallpaper, the color scheme, the start orb; pretty much anything I can change I will. Maybe put some stickers or something on the outside too, who knows.

Every day I live in fear that my laptop is going to crash and burn as I write my Master’s thesis. Upon arrival of a new computer I would transfer over all my files, like, uber-fast. That way I could immediately rest easy knowing I might actually write that sucker without some life-ending computer crisis.
Since I currently don’t have a laptop, the things I would do with my laptop are:
1) fill it will all type of media files
2) watch & listen to all the files everywhere
3) enjoy the mobility of having a laptop!!! I can surf when I’m on lying on my bed XD
The first thing I would do with this laptop is copy all my crap from my dying computer to the new one, that way all the songs I’ve accumulated over the years from Korean drama, and from dramabeans’ song posts will not be lost forever.
Then I will cast all my worries into the wind and snuggle down in my bed and watch all the dramas I’ve been meaning to watch but too scared to do, for fear of over heating my ancient laptop.
Then I would re-watch Secret Garden will simultaneously reading javabeans and girlfriday’s recaps, pausing here and there. Then I would be happy and spend half an hour coming up with some witty comment to post at the bottom of the recap, and in the process com across an interesting korean pop culture news article that will have me ADDing (yes I just made that into a verb) to many long tangents about who this person is, and who they starred with that person once in this movie, and then I will finally post my comment, and keep looking back to see if anyone appreciated my humor.
Then I will fall asleep and feel that all in good in the world. And I will remember this comment and be embarrassed.

I would make all sorts of noble vows about using the laptop only for my writing, and maybe I will even write a couple of pages on it, but then I will “crawl back like the junkie I am” (a very accurate description by the way) to my K drama ritual. Which involves: opening a tab for dramabeans, viikii, am-ad, and facebook so I can gush to my Kdrama group about whatever I am watching. Also, I would download pictures of Siwon and make my laptop password protected so my brother can’t see them and make fun of me.

I don’t have a computer or laptop currently, and I’m borrowing my sister’s right now, so the first thing I’d do with a new laptop is JUMP FOR JOY! Now I can finally watch all the dramas I want without bothering someone else. I was seriously going to wait in line at 3 a.m. on black friday for some Best Buy deals on laptops.
what I’d do is get a big bag of chips, six pack of pepsi and then go on a kdrama marathon all day long. I’m in my senior year of nursing school and its the end of the fall semester so I FINALLY have time to watch and RE-WATCH all my favorite TV shows. fighting!

Well my current laptop is on its version of life support, meaning the battery doesn’t hold a charge anymore and the AC plug is permanently attached. Its fans run on max 24/7 for some reason and, it likes to shut down when it wants to, not when I push the (not so) shiny button. I love(d?) it dearly, but maybe it’s time to put it to sleep……(which it has no problem doing every time I’m typing up an important document..gah!)
Needless to say, if I had a new nifty laptop, then the first thing I would do is shed a few tears……..then mindlessly surf Youtube and Facebook for the next 5 hours while getting my latest kdrama fix. Please don’t judge me though. ;)
The first thing I’d do with a new laptop is transfer all of the stuff (software programs, files, etc.) from my previous laptop. This is like mandatory before using the new laptop lol.
With a brand new laptop, I will first change the desktop. I’ll probably change it to a Moon Jae Shin background! :) Gotta have my boy on the wallpaper first heh.
What I would do with a new laptop is probably copy all of my pdfs for science articles for my two experiment projects and use it to organize my reading material and data for said projects. I would also use it for my graduate school personal essays that I will have to begin writing again in the very near future.
With a new laptop, I would be able to improve the quality of my learning of Korean history. In other words, I’ll be watching more episodes of “King Geunchogo” & rewatching Misil in “Queen Seondeok.”

The first thing I’d do with a new laptop is give it to my grandmother who’s been asking me to teach her how to use a computer to download and watch Korean dramas.

I would totally use it to watch my dramas and to post about them lovely eye-candy that is making me drool-can never have enough of it. LOL
My current laptop has served me well for 4 years, but it no longer tells time (motherboard problem), and the sound has been dying. How will I ever watch dramas? Not to mention blogging, photoshop, games, homework, random bursts of boredom, and illegal torrents running in the shadows.
For someone who wants to be uploaded into a computer and preserve their mind forever as a robot, it’s very necessary to have a working computer. Can’t have static in my voice if I’m trying to save the world, one computer at a time.

The first thing I would do with a new laptop is install Ubuntu on it and and transfer my ebooks onto it. The Ubuntu default pdf reader is much better than Acrobat. It caches the page that you left off, and so reading books on the computer is much easier.
I would like to say that I would use it to be super productive and write a lot… but I would probably just stream Secret Garden over and over!

The first thing I’d do is install the coupon printer so I’ll have another source to print out coupons once I reach my limit on my and my brother’s computers.
The first thing I would do with a new laptop is gush over how I don’t have to lean the screen up against the nearest vertical surface so it doesn’t fall over backwards like mine does on my 6 year old laptop. Then, I would download something that would normally take me 12 hours on this laptop in less than 60 seconds. While I was doing that, I would tell all of my friends on Dramabeans and Facebook about how cool Dramabeans was for giving me a laptop!
The first thing I wanna do.. bring it to my in-laws’ house for xmas. Lock the door.. watch k-dramas and surfing on the internet at the same time. That way.. I don’t have to hear them yapping while watching game show channel on TV (Yeah.. that’s my life every xmas).

The first thing I’d do is procrastinate on my research paper by watching Secret Garden!
If I got a new laptop, I would promptly download HQ versions of Secret Garden as soon as they are released without fears of my computer crashing, and therefore save me from the fuzziness that is sometimes present on Dramastyle.
Or I’d give it to my mom – while I have my own laptop, the rest of the family “time-shares” one, and she needs to keep up with her food blog fix as much as I need to keep up with my dramabeans addiction!
First thing I would do with a nifty new laptop is throw this mini netbook away! I can’t see any dramas or shows in it because the screen is so small so it cut all my videos in half so I either see peoples’ head or headless people! I need to constantly press F11 to watch shows! first thing i would do with a brand, new computer? well, i actually would give it to my mom. i have a decent computer, but my mom’s been using my old computer (where–might i add–the battery completely died, so she has to always keep it connected to the outlet) for the past couple of years. it is a pain in the neck to have your computer suddenly die when someone trips over the cord when walking by. furthermore, considering that it’s an older, outdated computer, it’s REALLY slow to connect to the web and it can take long periods of time to buffer/download dramas or other korean variety shows for her. i think she’ll be really happy to get a new computer where she doesn’t have to worry about the power going out if the plug gets unhooked and also where the connection speed would be a bit faster.

The first thing am gonna do with my new laptop is label it as my own…I will be calling it “mommy’s computer..” so my 3 daughters ( ages 6, 3 and 18 months) will not be touching it. It is so hard when you have children that already knows how to use a computer, they will compete with you in who will use the computer first. There are times when I be watching my kdramas and then they wanted to go play their games and I don’t know how many tricks I have in my hand just so they will let me finish my drama. Sometimes it hangs up or get a virus because some of the children game sites I swear got them or so many adwares that my poor computer can’t take it anymore.

So- if I was lucky enough to win a brand new PC laptop, I would love to send it to an organization like JDS Computer Donations, that sends laptops to American military units serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. These laptops enable American soldiers serving in these countries to be able to communicate with their families back home.
I’ve never had to serve in the military, and I cannot imagine what it’s like to be far away from my loved ones. So I think this would be a worthwhile purpose for such a wonderful prize.

I have no idea what is being said since I don’t know the language but listening to the shows is what has help me keep my sanity PLUS checking out Dramabeans for the recaps!!! And Yes! And by all the time I shall place said laptop of goodness into my bedroom. Some people have BMW’s I have a BWM and it is ten years old. This will be my new Bathtub Watching Machine. Make a a BIG tub of water, and on a platform a very safe distance away, watch whatever dramas you like while soaking for a few hours.

The first thing I’d do with a spiffy new laptop is probably scream and jump up and down like a maniac. But really, being an unemployed recent college grad, I would give it to my parents because our old computer has been disintegrating and the fact that I can’t do anything about it is frustrating. I can’t even browse the web on it because it crashes every 5 minutes or add a simple attachment to my own e-mail. (Yea, we still have one of those old school monitors.)

Well, I’ve never once owned a laptop before, and most of my friends all have one. My family (father, mother, me, younger brother) owns 3 computers. 1 laptop with me in Virginia, 1 laptop with younger brother in college, desktop with parents at home. I moved to Virginia 5 weeks ago but had to leave my desktop at home (complications with taking it aboard a plane or shipping T.T). Whenever my brother goes home (he attends college that is 20 mins away from home, but in dorms) he hogs both his laptop + home desktop, lol…playing a game on desktop while looking things up/chatting on laptop. I’d use the new laptop and ship my current one back home.
I’d give it to my sister as a gift because I broke a laptop and a desktop computer in quick succession last week (along with an iPod Touch AND my glasses AND I lost fifty bucks… it’s been that kind of week), and I feel both sorry and guilty. Then I’d probably ask to borrow it to watch dramas with her ;)

The first thing I would do with $250 Best Buy gift certificate is to buy my little sister a brand new camera. For almost four years, I’ve been sick and it got worst overtime. Last year, I was on the verge of dying but thankfully, with a miracle, support of my family, and with the help of amazing doctors, I had two major surgeries last summer and now I am recovering to a much healthier life.
Since the beginning, it was her that knew something was seriously wrong with my health even when I denied it and when I found out about my tumor, she was the one who did her best to cheer me up. She’d always check up on me and make sure I was doing okay and whenever I was in pain or whenever she knew I was feeling down, she always manages to put a smile on my face.
Last week, we went out on our occasional sister-date and I noticed that her camera was falling apart. It’s only a matter of weeks or days until it completely dies on her. And since I haven’t really given her anything in return and if I could buy her a new camera, I know it would mean so much to her. With her new camera, we can create more memories together with every photo we take!

And because of this, sometimes i feel bad for having to ask back for my laptop when their are using, because i have to use my laptop for school and/or personal reasons. Well, to be honest, the first thing I would do if I get the laptop is I want to use it throughout my university life. It’s hard to use other people’s laptop to do your assignments. As for now, I’m using my friends laptops or I go to cyber cafe to complete my assignment. It takes your time as you need to pay for the fees, worried if you suddenly broke your friend’s laptop, etc. If I own a laptop, I can do it without any worries.
Ah, literally the first thing I’d do with a laptop: tinker with it so that I have it set up exactly the way I like it. Then and only then do I proceed to do what I normally do – browse internet, watch dramas, and photoshop :)

The first thing that i will do is to throw away my jurassic laptop which always caused me to get bug eyes in the morning due to it’s slowness in downloading. I know that this new Intel model is quite fast, which means i can use it to do other things while downloading my kdramas. At least now, when i pay Megaupload, AZNV.TV and others like such, i would get my full number of days or hours. No need to wait twenty hours to finish downloading an episode of kdrama, no more buffering wait every 5 seconds, guh!!!
To top it up, it’s HDTV, weeeeeee!!! happiness!!!
Oh, made me wonder? will this mean, because of it’s speed i can now catch-up on the other kdrama i missed and re-watch again those i love? Oh wow, i need to get a life, hahaha. The first thing I would do with my new laptop is name it. Something utterly ridiculous like Hippodrome or Alkawizer.
I don’t need a new laptop, but a $250 Best Buy gift card I could use since I’m in dire need of an external hard drive (Kdramas and my digital art are filling up the current one). I would also be able to get my parents and brother a gift for Christmas since my money is pretty tight lately (no job) and I want to do something like get them a movie we could watch together.
The first thing I would do is start my research for the 10-page paper I have coming up …but I would then procrastinate by finishing Sungkyunkwan Scandal and continuing Secret Garden!

I have had my current laptop for 3 years but my dad had it for 5 years before me. this laptop has crashed 5 times taking my data with it several times (then i finally bought me one external hard drive.) and the other thing i would do with it is actually download all my dramas. I watch dramas online cause usually wen i try to download it it takes foooorrreeevveerrr. and not to mention random shutdowns soo i have to start downloading from the begin!!

The first thing I’ll do with the laptop is stash it in my closet for storage (after screaming in my room for ages, of course), in hopes that someday my daughter will go to college with it. Her current computer is not in the best shape but it’ll have to do for now, and every time I see it it’s crumbling/deteriorating (i.e., the air vent is cracked, it can’t operate without a charger). If I win the nifty and new laptop, I will send my daughter off to college with it.

I had a laptop with an i5 processor, unfortunately it was stolen in a burglary. The first thing I would do after booting it up is…take pictures of it and email everyone showing the awesomeness that is the computer! All while working on papers for school, doing my project for my computer science class, Christmas shopping and downloading music via Amazon.

I would give the laptop to my parents who are both in their early 60. They learned how to operate a laptop a few months ago on my old Dell Inspiron 600. They recently learned how to surf for information in the open internet sea and watch dramas :-) My dad also learned how to do video editing. The laptop was used excessively in my college days and is now running extremely slow that they are losing patience. A new laptop for them would be nice…if we’re ever that lucky to win (anything). :-)

The first thing I’d do with a new laptop is to use it for studying for finals because my 4 year old laptop is slowly dying. For the past 2 years, I’ve had to keep it plugged in because the battery only lasts like 10 minute. Now it doesn’t even last 1 minute when unplugged. To make it worse, my charger is dying too. I have to tweak the wire slightly now in order to keep it working. >.<
After my finals though, I'd use the new laptop to watch and write drama recaps for Taiwanese dramas at cpopaccess.com! We were inspired by dramabeans.com. :)
